I felt really inspired after reading the article on Edutopia about the Google Lit Trips program. We all know that many children learn best by doing, and this is one way that students can engage more thoroughly with literature. This program can provide a visual and spatial context through which children can have a more in-depth understanding of the books they read. I'm confused about how the program works, though. Can you take a virtual trip to anywhere in the world, or does it depend on whether Google Lit Trips already has information about the book you are studying?
I think that this program would be best used after reading a book with a class. It seems that it would be important for students to visualize the book on their own first (perhaps using sticky-notes and journaling exercises) before moving on to actually take a look at the book spatially through Google Lit Trips.
